Weaving Class Near Hartford, CT

Interested in learning how to weave on a floor loom? Looking to expand your hand-weaving skills? Whether you're a beginner, or an advancing student, this nine-week class is for you. The small class size means that all students will benefit from personalized instruction.

This class will be co-taught by Fran Curran and Sally Mullen

What will you learn? Beginners will be introduced to all steps of weaving, including winding a warp, threading a loom, reading a draft, and weaving a variety of patterns. Intermediate students will receive individualized instruction based on their level and interest, and will be encouraged to explore the diversity of the craft.

When: Mondays from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., March 23, 2020 through May 18, 2020.

Where: 42 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT

Please note: Full payment is due at registration.Tuition will be refunded only if the class is canceled by the Weaving Center, or if there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled.

Beginner level: Hartford Floor Loom Class ($285.00)
Are you new to floor loom handweaving? This option includes the $10 material fee required for new weavers. This fee covers the cost of the fibers you will use to wind your warp and prepare your loom.
Intermediate to Advanced Weavers: Hartford Floor Loom Class ($275.00)
If you have taken a class with us before, or are an experienced weaver, this option is for you. We'll contact you before class to make sure you're prepared to bring materials that suit your design ideas.

I have been presented with opportunity to inspect and evaluate those physical risks I may confront participating in the activities regularly associated with weaving within the HAWC rental premises situated at 42 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT. I hereby waive, all risks arising from or pertaining to: the customary and regular activities, and use of equipment that is associated with weaving at HAWC; and medical need(s) requiring address while I am on the premises and/or within the company of HAWC personnel. I will hold harmless, defend and indemnify HAWC from uninsured costs, expenses, reasonable attorney fees, awards, damages that may be occasioned or incurred arising out of, or pertaining to, any demand, claim, litigation, or arbitration which has the effect of serving to violate or, in any way, counter the foregoing waivers. To the extent not otherwise provided for above, this paragraph expressly authorizes HAWC to use, as a dollar for dollar credit or offset, an amount equal to all sums expended and/or costs, fees, expenses incurred, (including reasonable attorney fees), to satisfy or reduce any damage awards, settlements, verdicts, I may have recovered which violate or run counter to the foregoing waivers and hold harmless clauses. In the event my photo is taken during HAWC activities, I hereby give permission for HAWC to use said photos in promotional literature, including but not limited to brochures and flyers, or on the internet.
